The incident occurred in the eighth over of England’s innings in the first ODI at Edgbaston, Birmingham. During the fielding, Brar grabbed the ball and threw it towards the batter in a manner that was considered inappropriate by the match officials.
On-field umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Mike Burns, third umpire Sam Nogajski and fourth umpire Russell Warren reported the incident. Brar took responsibility and admitted the breach, meaning the matter could be dealt with without a formal disciplinary hearing.
