International pop star and Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin was seen in Ahmedabad ahead of his live performance in the special closing ceremony before the T20 World Cup 2026 final between India and New Zealand on March 8, Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In a video shared on the social media platform of X, the 54-year-old received a traditional welcome and was handed a bouqet at the airport as Martin donned a casual outfit.

Falguni Pathak and Sukhbir to perform in the T20 World Cup 2026 closing ceremony to perform as well

Aside from Martin, Falugni Pathak and Sukhbir will also perform on the night at the gigantic Narendra Modi Stadium. More than 100000 are expected to grace the venue as the Men in Blue, captained by Suryakumar Yadav chase history, aiming to become the first team to successfully defend their World Cup title. Should the Asian Giants lift the trophy, it will also make them the first side to win the trophy thrice and the first home team to do so.

Here’s the clip of Ricky Martin arriving in Ahmedabad:

India had encountered a small blip when they lost to South Africa by 76 runs in Ahmedabad but beat Zimbabwe, West Indies and England to make it to the final. New Zealand’s road to the final wasn’t smooth sailing either as they had to depend on Sri Lanka in the Super 8. Nevertheless, the Black Caps stunned South Africa in the first semi-final in Kolkata, thanks to Finn Allen’s swashbuckling hundred, thereby chasing down 170 with nine wickets to spare.

Team India yet to beat New Zealand in a T20 World Cup game:

Meanwhile, the Men in Blue surprisingly haven’t beaten New Zealand in a T20 World Cup game in three meetings. India lost to the Kiwis by 10 runs in the 2007 edition, followed by 47 runs in 16 and by eight wickets in Dubai.

Hence, India will also be keen to break that hoodoo.
