India national cricket team vs Pakistan national cricket team: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has added another remarkable milestone to his rapidly growing career, becoming the youngest Indian ever to win an Asian Games gold medal. The 15-year-old achieved the feat after India defeated Pakistan by 19 runs in the men’s T20 cricket final at the Asian Games 2026. His gold-medal success has seen him surpass the previous record held by Indian shooter Saurabh Chaudhary, further underlining the teenager’s rise on the international stage.

The landmark achievement comes shortly after Sooryavanshi earned another major recognition by being named in TIME magazine’s TIME100 Next, which celebrates emerging figures expected to shape the future. The Bihar-born cricketer was the only Indian athlete included in the 2026 list and was also its youngest member, with just seven athletes featuring among the selected personalities. With his Asian Games gold now added to that achievement, Sooryavanshi has broken yet another record at just 15.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Becomes Youngest Indian Ever To Win Asian Games Gold Medal

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi added another remarkable chapter to his teenage career on Saturday, becoming the youngest Indian ever to win an Asian Games gold medal. The 15-year-old achieved the feat at 15 years, 6 months and 6 days after India defeated Pakistan by 19 runs in the men’s T20 cricket final at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. Sooryavanshi opened the innings for India and scored 15 off nine balls, including two sixes, before India went on to post 211/6.

Although his stay at the crease was brief, Sooryavanshi became the youngest Indian to win an Asian Games gold, surpassing shooter Saurabh Chaudhary’s previous record. Chaudhary was 16 years, 3 months and 9 days old when he won the men’s 10m air pistol gold at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta. The latest milestone adds to a remarkable year for the Bihar batter, who has continued to make headlines with his performances and record-breaking achievements.

India’s gold-medal victory was powered by a strong batting display, with Abhishek Sharma smashing 61 off 28 balls and Tilak Varma finishing unbeaten on 51 from just 22 deliveries. Pakistan mounted a serious challenge during the chase, led by Hasan Nawaz’s explosive 96 off 51 balls, but India held their nerve to restrict the opposition to 192/8 and seal a 19-run win.

The Asian Games gold comes shortly after another major recognition for Sooryavanshi, who was named in TIME magazine’s TIME100 Next list of emerging personalities shaping the future. He was the only Indian athlete on the list and also the youngest person selected. Now, at just 15 years, 6 months and 6 days, Sooryavanshi has added another historic achievement to his rapidly developing career.
