Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha spoke to the media ahead of his team’s high-stakes clash against India on Sunday in Colombo, offering insights into team preparation, player form, and the lingering controversies ahead of the Group A encounter.

Addressing concerns over spinner Usman Tariq’s bowling action, which has faced repeated scrutiny in recent weeks, Agha said the team has no worries: “Usman has been cleared twice by the ICC. I don’t know why there’s talk about his action. He doesn’t care about it, and neither do we.” He emphasized that Tariq is a key member of the squad but downplayed the hype: “For us, every player is equal. You’ve made Usman Tariq the big story. He’s been bowling well and is our trump card.”

Agha also reflected on Pakistan’s historical record against India in World Cups: “We do not have a good record against India in World Cups, but we will try for a better performance.” He remained realistic yet focused, highlighting that the team is committed to giving its best.

On India’s side, Agha commented on Babar Azam Abhishek Sharma, who is recovering from a stomach illness, he added: “I hope Abhishek plays tomorrow. We want to face the best.”

Agha was also asked about the ongoing handshake controversy with India, replying diplomatically: “We will find out tomorrow.” The match itself had faced uncertainty last week due to Pakistan’s boycott threat, which ended after the International Cricket Council warned the PCB of serious consequences. While both teams finalize preparations, weather remains a factor, with over 60 percent chances of rain expected during the contest.
