Dhananjaya made 59 off 151 balls, while Dinusha followed his first-innings century with a fighting 84. Suthar had already played a major role in putting India in control during the first innings. His 4/76 helped India bowl Sri Lanka out for 284 after the hosts had slipped to 90/5. Niroshan Dickwella and Dinusha then added 146 runs to revive the innings, with Dickwella making 80 and Dinusha scoring 100.
The 24-year-old spinner finished with match figures of 10/131, becoming the standout performer as India’s spinners kept finding a way through the Galle surface. Jadeja also played his part, finishing with 2/16 in Sri Lanka’s second innings.

India’s commanding first-innings total gave them the platform to control the Test. Devdutt Padikkal led the way with 167, while KL Rahul made 82 and Dhruv Jurel added 51 as India posted 462.
Sri Lanka’s bowlers fought back in India’s second innings, with Asitha Fernando taking 4/31 and Prabath Jayasuriya claiming 3/43. Rishabh Pant, however, produced a brisk 66 off 69 balls, while Padikkal and Rahul made useful contributions as India were dismissed for 193, setting Sri Lanka 372 to win.

Dickwella was dismissed for 10 by Prasidh Krishna, leaving Sri Lanka six down for 156. Suthar then ripped through the tail, completing his 10-wicket haul and sealing India’s 165-run victory. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 206 in 77.4 overs.
