Nepal National Cricket Team is all set to experience a landmark moment as India A are confirmed to tour them for three T20Is later this year. In a statement released by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), India A will play three T20s, with the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur set to host the fixtures. A host of Indian Premier League (IPL) stars and fringe players of the Men in Blue will get an opportunity to showcase their exploits, with the home side also receiving the much-needed exposure to grow their cricketing ecosystem.
What are the dates of the three T20s between India A and Nepal?
The tour was finalized on the sidelines of the International Cricket Council (ICC) annual conference in Edinburgh, Scotland. with a meeting taking place between CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand, Secretary Paras Khadka and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devajit Saikia. According to the schedule agreed upon by the two boards, the series-opener will take place on December 11, while the next two fixtures will be held on the 11th and 13th.

The development also comes on the backdrop of a close working relationship between CAN and BCCI over the years. Notably, Nepal men’s team underwent some rigorous training in a preparatory camp at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru. Additionally, Nepal have also faced India’s domestic teams of Baroda and Gujarat as part of their preparations for their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign.
Have India and Nepal faced in international cricket?
The Men in Blue’s senior team have faced Nepal only twice in international cricket, once each in T20s and ODIs. Their first meeting came during Asia Cup 2023 in Pallekele when the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team won by 10 wickets.
The same year India and Nepal met in the Asian Games and the Men in Blue won by 23 runs and clinched the gold medal eventually. India A had showcased their immense potential recently, winning the One-day tri-series, involving Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A. Should Vaibhav Sooryavanshi get an opportunity, he will relish the challenge.
