Women’s Asia Cup 2026: India Women’s title celebration was followed by a controversial trophy presentation after Harmanpreet Kaur and her teammates did not collect the trophy from Naqvi. As the ACC chairman later left the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, a Pakistan supporter was seen recording his departure and expressing his support for the PCB chief.
Pakistan Fan Praises Mohsin Naqvi
In the video, the supporter can be heard congratulating Naqvi and expressing his happiness over the manner in which the situation unfolded. The fan also claimed that India did not deserve to receive the trophy and praised Naqvi while he was leaving the stadium.
Naqvi appeared to acknowledge the supporters as his vehicle moved away from the venue.

The video emerged after India’s decision to skip the trophy handover became one of the biggest talking points following the Women’s Asia Cup final.
India Women Skip Trophy Presentation After Winning Asia Cup
India produced a commanding performance against Sri Lanka in the final, winning by 72 runs to secure their eighth Women’s Asia Cup title.
However, the Indian players did not come forward to collect the trophy from Naqvi during the post-match presentation. Naqvi remained on the presentation stage and handed the runners-up cheque to Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu.
The Indian team instead celebrated its victory on the field without taking part in the trophy handover involving the ACC chairman.
‘Trophy Chor’ Chants Heard Outside Stadium
The controversy continued as Naqvi left the stadium, with chants of “Trophy chor” reportedly heard around the venue.

The chants revived memories of the controversy following the 2025 Men’s Asia Cup final, when India had also not collected the trophy from Naqvi after defeating Pakistan.
Devajit Saikia Explains India’s Decision
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia later defended the Indian team’s decision, saying the women’s side had followed the stance taken by the men’s team after the previous year’s Asia Cup.
Saikia linked the decision to the changed circumstances between India and Pakistan following the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack. He said India continues to participate in multinational tournaments but does not necessarily have to accept every condition associated with them.
Saikia also addressed footage showing him and BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla interacting with Naqvi during the final. He said such meetings were part of normal match-day protocol and maintained that the interaction did not change India’s position on the trophy presentation.
India ultimately secured a historic eighth Women’s Asia Cup title, while the trophy presentation controversy continued to dominate the post-match discussion.
