India’s Under-19 cricket team etched its name into the record books with a thunderous 100-run victory over England to claim a record-extending sixth ICC U19 World Cup title. A historic, blistering innings of 175 from 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi powered India to a tournament-final record total of 411 for 9, securing a perfect, undefeated campaign.

How Did India Set Up Their Record Total?

India’s mammoth score was built almost single-handedly by Player of the Tournament Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The teenage sensation smashed 15 fours and 15 sixes in his 80-ball 175, the highest individual score in any U19 World Cup final. He reached his century in 55 balls and his 150 in just 71 deliveries, the fastest 150 in the tournament’s history. Captain Ayush Mhatre provided crucial support with a steady 53, helping India post the highest total ever in a U19 final.

Who Stood Out for England in the Chase?

England’s response was defined by a valiant, lone fight from Caleb Falconer. The batter scored a rapid 115 from just 67 balls, keeping England’s hopes mathematically alive during the middle overs. However, his effort was in vain as the chase faltered around him; a dramatic collapse from 174 for 3 to 177 for 7 in the space of 18 balls sealed England’s fate, ending their innings at 311 in the 41st over.

What Does This Win Mean for India’s U19 Legacy?

This victory cements India’s unprecedented dominance in youth world cricket. The team completed a flawless tournament with seven wins from seven matches. Since 2016, India has now reached six consecutive U19 World Cup finals, winning four of them. Their overall record in that span is a staggering 35 wins and only 3 losses—all of which occurred in those final defeats. Captain Ayush Mhatre, upon lifting the trophy, stated, “We are happy that we’ve carried forward the legacy set by Rohit Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur.”
