A massive update has emerged from Indian football as the Under-17 Women’s national team looks forward to the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers, slated to be held in China. The All India Football Federation (AIFF), in a recent statement, shared that the country’s women’s U17 team will face Uzbekistan in two warm-up games, which will be part of their preparations for the continental qualifiers. While both friendlies will be played behind closed doors, it gives head coach Joakim Alexandersson a chance to evaluate his team combinations before the China campaign next year.
“Last year, our U17 Women’s team qualified for the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup on merit for the first time and created history by reaching the quarter-finals,” AIFF Deputy Secretary General Mr M Satyanarayan said about the latest development.
“We want to build on that momentum. It is important that the girls continue to get quality opposition in friendly matches, so they can keep developing, gain valuable experience and be better prepared for the qualifiers. Our aim is to qualify for the Asian Cup again and, hopefully, go one step further in next year’s tournament,” he added.
India U17 Women vs Uzbekistan: When And Where Will The Friendlies Be Played?
The India U17 women’s team will take on Uzbekistan twice in Tashkent, with the first clash scheduled for August 27 and the second on August 30. Both games will be played at the UFA National Football Centre, and no fans will be allowed to enter the arena during the closed-door friendlies.
India U17 Women’s Team To Test Combinations Before Qualifiers
The two Uzbekistan matches will be a major assignment for India U17 W, as they continue to prepare for AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers under Alexandersson. They have been pooled in Group E alongside Malaysia, Syria and Iraq, with the qualification fixtures slated to run from October 5 to 11.
