The India vs Pakistan Asian Games 2026 cricket final will have a different face at the medal ceremony, with Asian Cricket Council president Mohsin Naqvi confirmed to be absent from Finals Day in Nisshin. The ACC said Naqvi will miss the gold and bronze medal matches because of prior commitments.
Who Will Present Trophy After India vs Pakistan Men’s Cricket Final at Asian Games 2026?
With Naqvi not attending, ICC President Jay Shah is among the officials listed for the cricket medal presentation. Hiroki Kondo, Mayor of Nisshin City, and Nilo Jayatolake, OCA Executive Board Member and Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka, are also listed for the presentation of the cricket medals as reported by RevSportz.
Naqvi’s absence had been a point of interest ahead of the final given his role as ACC president and the recent history surrounding trophy presentations involving Indian teams. The Men in Blue did not accept the Asia Cup trophy from Naqvi after winning the 2025 men’s final against Pakistan, while the Indian women’s team also did not receive the trophy from him after winning the 2026 Women’s Asia Cup.

India vs Pakistan Asian Games 2026 Final: What To Expect
The ceremony will only be decided after what promises to be the biggest cricket match of the Asian Games. India take on Pakistan for the men’s T20 gold medal at 10:00 AM IST on Saturday, October 3, at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
India enter the final as the defending Asian Games champions. They secured their place in the final with a commanding 124-run win over Sri Lanka, posting 169/7 before bowling their opponents out for 45. Ishan Kishan was the standout batter with an unbeaten 80 off 46 balls, while 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 38 on his Asian Games debut.
Pakistan, meanwhile, reached the final after beating Bangladesh by six wickets in a rain-shortened semi-final. The match was reduced to 13 overs per side, with Pakistan chasing down Bangladesh’s 112-run target in 11.3 overs.
The two teams now meet with the gold medal at stake, giving India the opportunity to retain the title they won at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023. Pakistan, meanwhile, are chasing their first men’s cricket gold at the Asian Games.
