India’s women’s rugby sevens team will look to finish its Asian Games 2026 campaign on a positive note when it faces Singapore in the 5th-8th place classification match on Saturday, October 3 at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Rugby Field.
India entered the classification round after a difficult pool stage against some of the leading teams in the competition. The campaign began with a 33-7 defeat to Hong Kong China before India went down 43-2 to defending champions China. The team then signed off its pool-stage campaign with a 26-5 victory over Malaysia.
Singapore, meanwhile, also came through a demanding pool stage. Japan beat Singapore 36-5 on the opening day, while Thailand recorded a 36-0 victory over them. Singapore’s remaining pool match was against Kazakhstan before the classification stages.
India finished seventh at the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou and returned to the competition in Nagoya with six players from that squad in the current group.
