Cricket South Africa (CSA) has updated the schedule for the Indian women’s cricket team’s tour of South Africa. Set to take place in December 2026, the multi-format tour has now been expanded to include a brand-new three-match T20 International (T20I) series. The reason for inserting the three T20I games is to give both squads match practice ahead of the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in 2027 February that Sri Lanka will host.

CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki explained that organising these matches ensure that both the Proteas Women and the Indian team have the best possible preparation for the prestigious world event.

“We are delighted to confirm the revised schedule for India’s tour of South Africa, with the addition of the T20 International series over the festive period, ensuring our Proteas Women have the best possible preparation ahead of the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka early next year,” CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki said as quoted by Cricbuzz.

India Tour Of South Africa 2026 Matches:

Before the newly added T20 matches take place, the tour will kick off with the more traditional formats of the sport. The series opens with a historic one-off Test match in Gqeberha. Following the four-day red-ball fixture, the teams will shift their focus to a three-match One Day International (ODI) series. These 50-over matches hold weight, as they form part of the ICC Women’s Championship cycle, which is essential for determining future world rankings.

The Indian team is recognised as one of the strongest sides in world cricket today. Moseki noted that competing against such opposition across all three formats, Test, ODI, and T20, offers invaluable experience for the South African players.

“India remain one of the strongest teams in world cricket, and the opportunity to compete against them across all three formats will provide invaluable competition as we continue building towards another major ICC event,” Moseki added.
