Teenage prodigy Anahat Singh, 18, will start as the defending champion as the Indian Open 2026 Squash is all set to kickstart from March 18, Wednesday at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Having defeated Hong Kong China’s Helen Tang in the inaugural edition of the tournament last year, Anahat Singh had won her maiden title.
Anahat will be high on confidence as she also clinched the bronze at the Squash On Fire Open in Washington. Triumphing over reigning Commonwealth Games champion Georgina Kennedy in the final meant the 18-year-old propelled her into top 20 of the PSA women’s rankings, making her the youngest in Asia to achieve the feat. However, the likes of Joshna Chinappa, Tanvi Khanna, Rathika Seelan and Shameena Riaz will provide the 18-year-old a good run for of money in the 22-member contingent for the short tournament.
In the men’s contingent Abhay Singh, who is the Asian Games gold medallist, will look to go one better after finishing the 2025 edition as the runners-up, losing to Egypt’s Kareem El Torkey in the final. Ramit Tandon, Veer Chotrani and Velavan Senthilkumar are the other notable members in the men’s contingent. Egypt’s Yahya Elnawasany is the first seed, while Abhay is second.
