RCB vs MI, IPL 2026: Krunal Pandya’s 73 proved to be just enough as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched a nail-biting two-wicket victory over the Mumbai Indians in Raipur to eliminate the five-time champions from IPL 2026. Rasikh Salam Dar sprinted the required two runs off the final delivery to complete a run-chase of 167 to get the Royal Challengers to the top of the points table. Meanwhile, the Super Kings have also surged up the table after beating the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) earlier on Sunday at home.

RCB vs MI, IPL 2026: Bhuvneshwar Kumar jolts the Mumbai Indians early on

The Mumbai Indians had set the defending champions a modest 167 to win, led by Naman Dhir’s brisk 47 and Tilak Varma scoring a matured 42-ball 57. But the Mumbai Indians had also found themselves in an early pickle, crashing to 28/3 after Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Ryan Rickelton (2), Rohit Sharma (22) and Suryakumar Yadav (0). The partnership of 82 off 57 deliveries was the best of their innings as it propelled them to a total that was almost enough in the end. Bhuvneshwar was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-0-23-4, while Josh Hazlewood, Rasikh Salam Dar and Romario Shepherd snared one each.

The Royal Challengers had a rocky start of their own, losing Virat Kohli in the first over for a golden duck. Devdutt Padikkal (12) and Rajat Patidar (8) also bit the dust to let the Mumbai Indians back into the contest. But Krunal Pandya and Jacob Bethell propelled the reigning champions back into the contest as the 55-run stand was ended by Corbin Bosch, who also dismissed Tim David for a golden duck. Jitesh Sharma and Pandya kept the momentum going until the former became Bosch’s fourth victim, with the scales tilting in Mumbai Indians’ favour again.

Despite severe cramps, Pandya kept hitting sixes cleanly and eventually fell in the 18th over, leaving Romario Shepherd with the bulk of work to do. However, Jasprit Bumrah’s final over ensured the Royal Challengers will need 15 to win off the final over. When 9 runs were needed off the final three deliveries, Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck a six and the remaining formalities got done with little difficulties.
