In one of the most high-profile trades in IPL history, Jadeja, along with Sam Curran were traded from the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to the Rajasthan Royals for Sanju Samson, who will now feature for the five-time champions. Having played well over 250 games, the Saurashtra all-rounder moved to the Royals for a fee of ₹14 crore. It's worth noting that the left-handed batter had started his IPL stint with the Royals and was part of their title-winning campaign in 2008. Jadeja was also labelled as 'Rockstar' by the late Shane Warne, who ushered the franchise to IPL glory.

Rajasthan Royals had a forgettable IPL 2025 campaign

The Rajasthan-based franchise struggled to make impact in the 2025 edition of the IPL, finishing 9th in the table, a position above the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). With Samson getting traded to the Super Kings, Riyan Parag has been unveiled as the skipper. The inaugural IPL champions will hope that the trades of Jadeja and Samson will work in their favour as they aim to clinch their second title.

The likes of Parag, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Tushar Deshpande, Nandre Burger, Sandeep Sharma, Kwena Maphaka, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Shubham Dubey and Yudhvir Singh were retained. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi were their most expensive buy, fetching ₹7.20 crore. IPL 2026 will begin on March 28 but the entire schedule has not been announced yet. The schedule is likely to be announced in two phases due to the state elections in regions like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry.
