Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hard-hitter Tim David has started his practice as the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) looms large. With the burly Australian batter batting at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, a towering hit from him almost hit a female spectator. A video of the same surfaced on social media as she sidestepped on time.

Tim David played a critical role in RCB’s maiden IPL title win

Although David grappled with injuries in the second half of IPL 2025, he had a critical role in the Royal Challengers’ drought-breaking trophy win. The 30-year-old clobbered 187 runs in the 12 matches, averaging a mighty 62.33 and maintained a strike rate of 185.14. Nevertheless, a hamstring injury didn’t allow him to feature in the final. The Royal Challengers managed to defeat the Punjab Kings in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad by six runs to lift the trophy.

Meanwhile, the Royal Challengers will be in action on day one of IPL 2026, facing the SunRisers Hyderabad at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The venue was awaiting clearance, given the stampede that took place in the aftermath of RCB’s title win in 2025. However, a government-appointed Expert Committee approved the use of the stadium on Monday. Aside from staging the opening fixture, the Chinnaswamy Stadium will also host a playoff game and final. Due to the state elections looming in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Assam, the BCCI has announced the schedule only for the first two matches.

RCB IPL 2026 squad: Rajat Patidar (c), Virat Kohli, Phil Salt, Devdutt Padikkal, Jitesh Sharma, Josh Hazlewood, Krunal Pandya, Tim David, Swapnil Singh, Romario Shepherd, Jacob Bethell, Venkatesh Iyer, Satvik Deswal, Mangesh Yadav, Vicky Ostwal, Vihaan Malhotra, Kanishk Chouhan, Jordan Cox, Rasikh Dar, Suyash Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Nuwan Tushara, Abhinandan Singh, Jacob Duffy, Yash Dayal.
