Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batting stalwart Virat Kohli was left in splits on Romario Shepherd’s gesture while describing Tim David’s carnage in the IPL 2026 game against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 5, Sunday. In a video surfaced on social media, the 37-year-old couldn’t control his laughter as Shepherd made a hilarious gesture to describe David’s knock.

David, who walked out in the 15th over of the innings after Jamie Overton dismissed Padikkal for 50, had also received a lifeline. Anshul Kamboj, who had dismissed Kohli earlier, delivered a searing yorker at leg-stump but had overstepped. The Singapore-born cricketer was unstoppable after that, headlined by a 21-ball half-century and smashing Jamie Overton for 30 runs in an over, including a 106m maximum. The 30-year-old’s unbeaten 25-ball 70 included eight sixes and three fours and saw an unbroken partnership of 99 with Rajat Patidar, who batted with a strike rate of 252.63, lifting the defending champions to 250/3 in 20 overs.

“I have confidence from all the prep I do” – Tim David
Describing his knock against the Super Kings, the Australia batter expressed his happiness at playing the knock and stated that he gets the confidence due to the Royal Challengers having a deep batting line-up. David said at the post-game presentation after taking the Player of the Match award.
“Very pleased – does not always happen that way. The skipper was smoking it, and I just took some balls off him – it was super fun. I do not change my game much, but I have confidence from all the prep I do. Going in to bat with Jitesh and Shepherd behind me really gives me confidence. Lot of prep we do here. Nice to work with DK – he is an experienced player in these conditions.”
With two wins out of two, the reigning champions have surged to the top of the points table.
