Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reportedly is enraged over Blessing Muzarabani pulling out of the 2026 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to sign a deal with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of IPL 2026. As a result, the PCB is reportedly planning to take a legal action against Zimbabwe’s towering pacer.
How much did Islamabad United acquire Blessing Muzarabani for?
The 29-year-old had been called up as pacer Shamar Joseph’s replacement for Islamabad United by reportedly shelling out PKR 11 million. But the Knight Riders roped him in as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman, who was withdrawn out of the squad after the auction and Muzarabani accepted. Hence, a report in Geo Super has now claimed that the PCB could sue the Harare-born cricketer.
This is the second instance of a cricketer pulling out their PSL deal to join an IPL franchise. Ahead of IPL 2025, South African bowling all-rounder Corbin Bosch, who was roped in as a Diamond Pick by Peshawar Zalmi, withdrew his contract to link up with the Mumbai Indians.
Blessing Muzarabani’s exploits in T20 World Cup 2026
The right-arm speedster’s outing in T20 World Cup 2026 is something that made him a hot prospect as he finished the marquee tournament with 13 scalps in six games, making him the fourth-highest wicket-taker. The Knight Riders will kickstart their campaign against the Mumbai Indians on March 29, Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The season will begin with reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru facing the SunRisers Hyderabad at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The Knight Riders, captained by Ajinkya Rahane, also have another injury concern in the form of Indian pacer Harshit Rana, who is also likely to be ruled out of IPL 2026. But the franchise are yet to decide on a replacement.
Kolkata endured a forgettable season in 2025 as they failed to reach the playoffs, managing only five wins and seven defeats in 12 games, thereby finishing at the eighth spot. However, the three-time champions will be looking to correct that.
