AERIAL VIEW FROM HELICOPTER OF ROPES DESCENDING, RESCUE WORKERS ON GROUND STORY: The body of an ice climber was recovered from Lillaz ice falls in Cogne, Italy according to the local alpine rescue service on Saturday (February 7).     Video released by the Valle d'Aosta Alpine Rescue service showed helicopters hovering over the slopes near the ice fall with ropes descending down to the ground where rescuers worked with flashlights.     The rescue service said the ice climber, a foreign national, fell through the ice halfway down the fall becoming trapped in icy water several metres further down the fall.     The fatal accident in the Valle d'Aosta region in Italy's northwest follows the deaths of three people killed by avalanches on Saturday skiing off-piste in the mountains of Trentino Alto Adige and Lombardy, two regions that are home to some of the venues of the Milano Cortina Winter Games, the Alpine rescue service said.     Two avalanches hit the Marmolada area in the Dolomites, not far from Cortina d'Ampezzo where the women's Alpine skiing competitions are taking place.     (Production: Amy Pollock) (The article has been published through a syndicated feed.
