VIDEO SHOWS: COMMENTS BY ITALIAN FOREIGN MINISTER, ANTONIO TAJANI, ON POSSIBLE ICE AGENTS' PRESENCE AT WINTER OLYMPICS   RESENDING WITH COMPLETE SCRIPT SHOWS: ROME, ITALY (JANUARY 27, 2026) (TV2000 – Editorial use only / Must courtesy TV2000) 1. (SOUNDBITE) (Italian) ITALIAN FOREIGN MINISTER, ANTONIO TAJANI, SAYING: "We shouldn’t instrumentalize things. The presence of the ICE meaning, we need to look at what the responsibilities of ICE actually are. If they come, they will come to cooperate, not out on the streets, but to cooperate with the police, just as police forces from other countries around the world do. Because when there is a major event, there has to be international cooperation among police forces. Everything else is just instrumentalization." 2. WHITE FLASH 3.  (SOUNDBITE) (Italian) ITALIAN FOREIGN MINISTER, ANTONIO TAJANI, SAYING:  "It’s not a matter.. These are different things. One thing is the physical security of Vans and Rubio, another is the general security of the event, how can I put it, public order. Security on the ground will be handled by our law enforcement, but there will be, as always, just like when we went to Germany when there were the World Cup matches, our police cooperated with the German police. This is something that is always done, so these are just instrumentalizations." STORY: Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Tuesday (January 27) defended the possible arrival of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Italy ahead of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, rejecting criticism from opposition parties. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel will help protect U.S. delegations at the Winter Olympics in Italy, a U.S. embassy source said on Tuesday, confirming local media reports and prompting anger among some Italian politicians. ICE and Border Patrol agents have come under heavy criticism in the United States over their enforcement of President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown after two U.S. citizens were shot dead in separate incidents this month in the state of Minnesota. The embassy source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said ICE's Homeland Security Investigations division would back up the U.S. State Department's security service at the February 6-22 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
