Jannik Sinner arrives at the Italian Open 2026 on Saturday, May 9, not just as a national star but as a force of nature rewriting the tennis history books. After a dominant straight-sets victory over Alexander Zverev to claim the Madrid Open title just days ago, the World No. 1 enters his home tournament on an unprecedented hot streak. With a staggering 30–2 record in 2026 and four consecutive Masters 1000 titles already under his belt. If he wins the title at Foro Italico, Sinner will break several more records, joining the list of some of the greatest to ever pick up a racket.

Jannik Sinner Can Break These Records At Italian Open 2026

The Italian Open represents the final frontier for Sinner’s trophy cabinet. Having already secured eight of the nine current ATP Masters 1000 titles across his career, Rome is the only piece of silverware missing from his collection. If Sinner lifts the trophy in front of his home crowd, he will become only the second man in history, after Novak Djokovic, to achieve the Career Golden Masters.

Sinner’s dominance on the 1000-level this season is statistically unplayable. He is currently 23–0 in Masters events this year, having swept Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, and Madrid. A victory in Rome would not only complete the set but also would make him the first player ever to sweep the first five Masters 1000 tournaments of a single calendar year.

Novak Djokovic And Roger Federer’s Records Under Threat

Apart from that, the ATP Masters magic dating back to Paris last November has helped the Italian build a formidable 28-match winning streak at this level. Lifting the trophy in Madrid, he moved to within just one victory of matching Roger Federer’s iconic 29-match streak — the third-longest in ATP Masters series history since 1990.

By reaching the semifinals at the Foro Italico, Sinner would extend his streak to 32 matches, officially surpassing Novak Djokovic’s record of 31 consecutive wins set during the Serbian’s historic 2011 campaign.

Sinner is set to face Sebastian Ofner in his opening round today, looking to extend a streak that has seen him win 56 of his last 58 sets at the Masters level.
