The innings took Buttler’s career tally to 14,833 runs in 522 T20 matches, overtaking Pollard’s previous record of 14,803 runs. Former West Indies captain Chris Gayle, long regarded as the format’s greatest batter, now sits third with 14,562 runs.

After being asked to field first, Manchester Super Giants conceded 155/4 in 100 balls. Matt Short anchored Welsh Fire’s innings with a fluent 71, while Phil Salt chipped in with 48 to give the visitors a competitive total.
