“If the club owner has spoken so categorically, then there’s nothing more to say,” Simeone said.
The manager also addressed Alvarez’s absence from Atletico’s opening league fixture, explaining that the forward was not yet in the right physical or mental condition to feature.
“We don’t see him in the right condition to play yet,” Simeone said, while adding that he hoped Alvarez would make progress over the following four days.
