The Indian Premier League 2026 and rain seem to be fighting their own battle, and Kolkata Knight Riders have been the biggest victims so far. Their previous match against Punjab Kings, a game that could have handed them their first win of the season, ended in a washout as the Kalbaisakhi storm in West Bengal showed no mercy. And once again, on Thursday, the day of KKR’s fourth match of the season set against the Lucknow Super Giants, the skies over Kolkata remain gloomy. Rain has already hit the city, and more showers along with thunderstorms are expected as the day progresses.

Kolkata Weather Today, Eden Gardens Weather Report Today Match

According to the India Meteorological Department, Kolkata, especially the Howrah region, is under a Yellow Alert with a 93% chance of rain. The temperature at the time of writing stands at 24°C, with light easterly winds at 1.9 km/h. Sunset is expected at 5:55 PM IST.

However, according to AccuWeather, rain chances are expected to decrease as evening approaches. By around 6 PM, the probability drops to nearly 13%, with temperatures hovering around 26°C. But expect the unexpected, the previous match had a similar forecast before clouds suddenly rolled in and took over.

It’s spring season in India, often called the king of seasons, but for IPL fans, especially KKR supporters, it has been far from pleasant. Rain has already disrupted three practice sessions and one match for the team.

Still, there’s a small positive in this as the washout in the previous game gave the Ajinkya Rahane-led side their first point of the season after losses to Mumbai Indians (by 6 wickets) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (by 65 runs). And today, once again, rain is expected to play a role. But then again, who knows? Sunday Guardian will update the weather changes as it happens here, so keep checking.
