KKR vs MI, IPL 2026: While the Mumbai Indians are targeting to end their IPL 2026 campaign on a high in their last two matches, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have a lot more than to regain pride. With the three-time champions in a five-way race for the lone playoffs spot left, they must win and and look to do so with a better net run-rate to stay in the hunt for a Top 4 finish. With the impact player rule that was introduced in the 2024 edition and changing the face of IPL, it will yet again be in focus on Wednesday at the Eden Gardens. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Matheesha Pathirana and Finn Allen will be in focus.

KKR vs MI Impact players for today’s IPL match

3) Matheesha Pathirana

There is massive uncertainty over whether or not Sri Lanka fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana will play in Wednesday’s fixture. The youngster was seen clutching his hamstring after sending down only eight deliveries in the game against the Gujarat Titans and didn’t return to the field. Pathirana could most likely miss the clash but should he feature, the Sri Lankan will play only as an impact player.

2) Finn Allen

Finn Allen was subbed out of the previous game against the Gujarat Titans after his swashbuckling 93 set the tone for a total of 247 at the Eden Gardens. Should the Knight Riders bat second, the New Zealand star is likely to come as an impact substitute.

1) Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma, the former Mumbai Indians captain, has been playing as an impact player more often than not since returning to the playing XI against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). While he battered a whirlwind 84 in that game, the 39-year-old’s scores have been 22 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and 22 against the Punjab Kings. Hence, Rohit will be keen to put on a good display with the Mumbai Indians nearing the end of their campaign.
