KKR vs RR, IPL 2026: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have kept themselves alive by registering their first win of IPL 2026 as they beat the Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens on April 19, Sunday. Although it wasn’t a perfect run-chase despite restricting the Royals to 154, Rinku Singh and Anukul Roy ensured to bring the Knight Riders home as they have kept themselves afloat for now.
KKR vs RR, IPL 2026: Here are the key moments from the clash at the Eden Gardens clash
4) Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s wicket
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was the first Rajasthan Royals to be dismissed as he perished for 46, ending the 81-run opening stand with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the ninth over of the innings. Although the openers had set an outstanding platform, the Royals struggled to sustain that momentum and limped to 155 in their 20 overs.
3) Yashasvi Jaiswal’s wicket
A well-set Yashasvi Jaiswal perished after playing 28 balls for his 39 runs in the 12th over of the innings as Sunil Narine took the first of his two wickets. Jaiswal’s presence for the next five overs could have given the Royals at least a 170-run target, given even 155 runs were almost enough for the visitors to win.
2) Cameron Green’s stumping
Walking into the crease at 5/2, after ducks from Tim Seifert and Ajinkya Rahane, Cameron Green seemed nerveless and carried off from where he left in the game against the Gujarat Titans. The 26-year-old had reached 27 off 12 deliveries when Dhruv Jurel affected a brilliant stumping after Ravi Bishnoi cleverly threw the ball down the leg side. Green’s presence even for the next three to five overs could have pushed the Knight Riders to a match-winning total.
1) Nandre Burger’s costly fielding lapse
Minutes after Rovman Powell holed out to long-on, Rinku Singh also played a massive hack and it ballooned to Nandre Burger at short third man but the South African pacer dropped the catch. With Rinku at 8 and Knight Riders at 78/6 at that position, the Knight Riders’ hopes would have been dead and buried. But the left-hander went on to smash an unbeaten 53 to guide Kolkata home by six wickets and two balls to spare.
