PSL 2026: Kusal Mendis delivered a night to remember in Match 17 of the Pakistan Super League 2026, putting up a sensational performance for Peshawar Zalmi against Karachi Kings. The Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter made history by becoming the first player from his country to score a century in the PSL.
Kusal Mendis Steals the Show with Historic PSL Century
At the National Stadium in Karachi, Mendis took complete control of the contest and turned what was expected to be a tough game into a one-sided display. His innings also brought an end to Karachi Kings’ unbeaten run in the tournament.
Walking in at number three, Mendis wasted no time getting started. He looked confident from the beginning and kept the scoreboard ticking with ease. What followed was a stunning knock of 109 runs off just 52 balls.
His innings had everything: aggressive stroke play, smart placement, and consistent boundary hitting. He struck 14 fours and cleared the ropes 4 times, keeping the crowd entertained throughout.
Building the Perfect Partnership With Babar Azam
While Mendis grabbed the spotlight, Babar Azam played an important supporting role at the other end. The two batters built a massive 161-run partnership, which laid the foundation for a huge total.
Mendis reached his hundred in the 17th over, calmly taking a single off Adam Zampa towards square leg. His strike rate of 209.62 highlighted just how quickly he scored and how difficult he was to stop on a flat pitch.
Karachi Kings Finally Tasted win
Coming into this match, Karachi Kings had looked unstoppable with a perfect winning record. However, Mendis’ explosive innings quickly shifted the momentum and put them under pressure for the first time in the competition.
This performance adds to what has already been an impressive year for Mendis. After shining in the T20 World Cup earlier in 2026, he continues to show top form and confidence in the shortest format.
Zalmi Post a Massive Total
After winning the toss, Karachi Kings chose to bowl first, but that decision didn’t go as planned. Peshawar Zalmi piled up a huge 246/3 in their 20 overs.
Mendis led the charge with his brilliant century, while Babar Azam added a steady 87 off 51 balls. In the final overs, Abdul Samad provided a powerful finish with an unbeaten 40 off just 12 balls, taking the total to a massive score.
It was a complete batting effort from Zalmi, but the night will be remembered for Kusal Mendis and his record-breaking century
