Sri Lanka and Peshawar Zalmi keeper-batter Kusal Mendis refused to answer a question related to IPL following the PSL 2026 match against the Lahore Qalandars on April 11, Saturday at the National Stadium in Karachi. In a video surfaced on social media, a personality, who was supposedly a team manager, also instructed the reporter to ask questions only regarding PSL 2026.
PZ vs LQ, PSL 2026: What did the reporter ask Kusal Mendis about?
The question in the context was about how the Sri Lankan keeper-batter withdrew from PSL to represent the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025. Mendis, who was crowned the Player of the Match award after Zalmi’s huge 76-run win over the defending champions was asked:
“Last year, you withdrew from the PSL to play for the Gujarat Titans due to security concerns. This time, the PSL is welcoming you back with respect. Do you have any regrets about withdrawing from the PSL last year?”

The 31-year-old is currently the leading run-getter of PSL 2026, notching 241 runs in four innings, averaging a healthy 60.25. The right-handed batter notably struck a 52-ball 109 against the Karachi Kings and added 190 runs with Babar Azam to power Zalmi to 246/3. They went on to beat the Karachi Kings by an eye-watering margin of 189 runs.
How did Kusal Mendis perform for the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025?
Mendis had been roped in as a replacement by the Titans for Jos Buttler, who had left for international duty ahead of the IPL 2025 playoffs. He played only one match and scored 20 runs but faced backlash for dropping catches as it came in the Eliminator clash against the Mumbai Indians.
The Titans ended up losing the match by 20 runs to be knocked out of the tournament.
