LOS ANGELES LAKERS LOGO CLOSE-UP 2. LEBRON JAMES WALKING TO THE PRESS CONFERENCE 3. (SOUNDBITE) (English) LEBRON JAMES SAYING: Ā Ā Ā "Right. I mean, I don't know. I mean, I'm excited about today. I'm excited about the opportunity to be able to play a game that I love for another season. And, you know, whatever the journey, however the journey, you know, lays out this year, I'm just like super invested because I, like you just said, I don't know when the end is, but I know it's a lot sooner than later. So, you know, just, you know, being super appreciative of the fact that I could come up here, do another media day and talk to you guys and do all the stuff around here. So just excited about the journey and whatever, you know, this year has in store for me." 4. JAMES WALKING AROUNDĀ 5. (SOUNDBITE) (English) LEBRON JAMES SAYING: Ā Ā Ā "No, zero. The motivation to be able to play alongside him (Luka Doncic) every night, that's super motivating. That's what I'm gonna train my body for. Every night that I go out there and try to be the best player I can for him, and we're going to bounce that off one another. But as far as me weighing in on him and some of my other teammates on how far I go in my career now, it would be literally my decision along with my wife and, you know, two of my boys are already gone. Well, shit, one of them is somewhere around here. Yeah, Bronny. BryceĀ down there in Tucson, so he's out the house. So it'd be a decision between me and my wife and my daughter. Like that's not even it won't be like hey, having a meeting with my teammates, it won't be that." 6. BRONNY JAMES CLOSE-UP 7. (SOUNDBITE) (English) BRONNY JAMES SAYING: Ā Ā Ā "Yeah, I mean, I think it's great for me in my mind. To just push through the criticism and everything that's thrown my way and just to see the, again, just to see the growth and skills develop as a player while being scrutinized and stuff like that. I think it's just good for my head and it's just allowed me to keep going and pushing through." 8. LUKA DONCIC MEETING LEBRON JAMES 9. (SOUNDBITE) (English) LUKA DONCIC SAYING: Ā Ā Ā "I think just first of all, obviously talking about it, communicating is important. But then just trying some stuff in practice. Obviously, we didn't have time last season to go through. And I think that's why preseason is very important for me, for the team, just to kind of, how to say, get to know everybody and what everybody likes. And just, in practice, you can make a lot of mistakes. So that's what practices are. So we're going to have a lot of practices. And I'm excited to figure out everybody." 10. Hopefully we can work till the end of my career. I know I just love him as my coach. I know he will tell you anything. He will tell you if you did something wrong, or if you did something good. So Just approaching the game with him, it's unbelievable. So I'm very excited that he's my coach. 12. LAKERS' FLAGS' CLOSE-UP 13. LAKERS' TROPHIESĀ 14. WIDE OF THE MEDIA DAY ROOMĀ STORY: LeBron James expressed his motivation to continue his career and his excitement for the upcoming NBA season during the team's media day on Monday (September 29), emphasizing that his retirement is approaching sooner rather than later. James, however, dismissed the notion of consulting teammates on his career decisions, stating his choices are made in collaboration with his family. "As far as me weighing in on him (Luka Doncic) and some of my other teammates on how far I go in my career now, it would be literally my decision along with my wife and two of my boys, who are already gone… So it'd be a decision between me and my wife and my daughter. Like it won't be hey, having a meeting with my teammates, it won't be that," James told the reporters.Ā James played with his son Bronny last season in an historic first in basketball history, while his second son, Bryce is at Arizona and preparing to play his freshman season, so there's a possibility he could be drafted into the NBA next summer. James, the NBA's all-time leading scorer with 42,184 points, turns 41 in December and has not yet decided if he will retire following the upcoming season. In 70 games last season, he averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists to rank in the top 22 in each category. Preparing for his first full season playing alongside fellow teammate Luka Doncic, James will become the first player in NBA history to play in 23 seasons when he suits up for opening night (Oct. 21) against the visiting Golden State Warriors. James, who has played in 1,562 regular-season games, is 50 shy of breaking Hall of Fame member Robert Parish's NBA record. He is a 21-time All-Star, four-time league MVP and four-time NBA champion. James entered the NBA as an 18-year-old after being selected number one in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. (Production: Suramya Kaushik)
