Argentinian and Inter Miami footballer Lionel Messi’s powerful kick went viral during a practice session ahead of the club’s match against the New York Red Bulls at the Nu Stadium in Miami on April 12, Sunday. In a video surfaced on social media, the cameraman was seen checking the camera lens as it was shredded by Messi’s pinpoint kick.
Inter Miami unbeaten in their last five Major League Soccer matches
In what was a newly-inaugurated stadium, Messi-starrer Inter Miami took on Austin FC and played an entertaining 2-2 draw. Messi needed merely 10 minutes to net his maiden goal, putting their side in 1-1. Nevertheless, Guilherme Biro had scored the first goal of the match only in the 6th minute of the contest. Although Jayden Nelson had scored another goal for Austin FC in the match, Luis Suarez roared back in the 82nd minute to hold on to a draw.

Lionel Messi in line to lead Argentina in FIFA World Cup 2026
Meanwhile, the 38-year-old football legend is in line to play for Argentina in the FIFA World Cup 2026. Coach Lionel Salconi said the below on the prospects of the veteran playing in the upcoming tournament, as quoted by Sportstar:
“We want to recover some performances and see a mix of the players we have. Regarding Leo (Messi), yes, it’s on him (to decide) if he is going to play; it’s another great opportunity for everyone to enjoy what we enjoy every time he’s here.”
Salconi further claimed:
“Given how complicated it is, repeating a World Cup is hard to promise. It would be incredible (of it happens). Argentina deservedly won the last one, but there are many cases where the one who deserves it doesn’t win, and that speaks to the difficulty of the tournament. The World Cup is terribly complicated. We’re doing well, and logically, our opponents will play us differently. We know what’s at stake, and the team will be there. After that, it’s football, and we know what that entails. No fewer than 10 national teams can win the World Cup, and I might even be underselling it. I have no doubt that there’s a very high level.”
