The wait is finally over for more than 1.3 million hopeful runners who entered the ballot for the historic 2027 TCS London Marathon. Applicants from the UK and around the world should have received emails confirming whether they have booked a place in what will be a landmark edition of the iconic race. Unlike previous years, the 2027 event will take place across two days, making it the biggest London Marathon in history.

Organisers have introduced the one-time expansion to accommodate a record 100,000 participants, allowing thousands more runners to experience the famous 26.2-mile course from Greenwich to Westminster. Every ballot entrant was automatically considered for both race days through a random draw, with successful applicants now discovering whether they will compete on Saturday or Sunday.

As results continue to be released throughout the day, organisers have also reassured participants that emails are being sent in batches and advised those still waiting to stay patient before contacting the event team.

How to check your 2027 London Marathon ballot result?

Ballot results are being delivered by email throughout the day to every applicant. Organisers have advised participants to check both their inbox and spam or junk folders, as notifications are being sent from the official London Marathon Events email address.

Anyone who has not received an update by 9:00 AM BST on Friday, July 10, has been asked to contact London Marathon Events for assistance.

Why is the 2027 London Marathon being held over two days?

For the first time, the TCS London Marathon will be split across Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25, 2027. The one-off format is designed to increase participation, allowing 100,000 runners to take part across the weekend, with 45,000 competing on Saturday and the others on Sunday.

The expanded event is also expected to create the largest charity fundraising weekend in UK sporting history, while providing additional opportunities for charities, community groups and first-time marathon runners.

What happens if you don’t get a ballot place?

Missing out in the public ballot does not necessarily end the dream of running the London Marathon. Organisers have confirmed that runners can still secure places through participating charities, with entries available for both race days during this special edition.

The event will also feature a week-long celebration, including the Running Show, Friday Night Lights 5K and the Mini London Marathon. Additional entries have been allocated to London schools and boroughs, while extra revenue generated by the expanded marathon will support projects encouraging children and young people to become more active across the UK.
