Max Verstappen is stepping away from the usual Formula 1 setting for a rather unusual challenge at Silverstone, where the four-time world champion will attempt to race past 100 drivers in just 30 laps. The event gives Verstappen a chance to revisit the karting world that shaped his early career. He first got behind the wheel of a kart at just four years old and began competing by seven, before eventually making his Formula 1 debut and spending the past 11 years at the pinnacle of motorsport.

Organised by Red Bull, Max vs 100 will bring together amateur drivers from social media, television and the sporting world for a one-off go-kart showdown. Verstappen will start at the very back of the grid, with all 100 competitors positioned ahead of him, and must overtake every driver within the 30-lap limit to complete the challenge. Each kart that Verstappen passes is eliminated from the race, meaning he could potentially secure victory before the full distance is completed.

Max vs 100: When and Where Will the Epic Karting Challenge Take Place?

Red Bull’s Max vs 100 karting showdown is set for Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Silverstone in the UK, where a specially designed karting circuit has been created inside the iconic venue. The event will be held behind closed doors, meaning fans will not be able to attend in person, but the action will be available to watch around the world. Pre-show coverage begins at 5:00 PM BST, with the race scheduled to get underway at 6:00 PM BST.

The challenge itself will see four-time F1 world champion Max Verstappen face an unusual test of his karting skills. Starting from the very back of the 101-kart grid at P101, Verstappen will have just 30 laps to overtake all 100 drivers ahead of him. The field features a diverse mix of athletes, streamers, content creators and fans, including well-known names such as Caedrel and TechnoGamerz. Adding another layer to the challenge, every competitor will race in identical karts, putting the focus firmly on driving ability as Verstappen attempts to clear the entire field.
