The Mike Vrabel–Dianna Russini situation continues to draw attention even a month later, with fresh comments keeping it in circulation. Chase Daniel, who previously co-hosted The Athletic’s “Scoop City” podcast with Dianna Russini before her exit led to the show being discontinued, has now become one of the first from her former professional circle to address the ongoing chatter involving her and Mike Vrabel.

Speaking on a recent episode of Jim Rome’s show, the former Chase Daniel kept his comments measured, noting he had largely stayed out of the situation surrounding the New England Patriots coach. He avoided adding detail, making it clear he wasn’t closely involved with the matter while still acknowledging the noise around it.

Dianna Russini’s Former Colleague Breaks Silence on Ongoing Drama

“Look, that’s something that’s unfortunate in many different ways,” Daniel said. “We haven’t really chatted about it. We haven’t done any of that, so I’m going to leave that there. That’s their business.” He did express one brief vote of confidence in Russini’s future, though. “I’m sure she’ll land on her feet somewhere,” he said, “and that’s all I’ll really say about that.”

Daniel also acknowledged how much attention the situation has pulled in since it first surfaced. “It’s turned into quite the assignment recently,” he observed, a restrained way of describing the ongoing wave of coverage that followed Page Six publishing photos of Russini and Vrabel together at the Ambiente resort in Sedona, Arizona. But that’s not the only thing that is in the talks right now.

Mike Vrabel–Dianna Russini Situation Now Reaching NFL-Level Impact

The NFL’s 2026 schedule has set up a high-profile start, with a Super Bowl LX rematch opening the regular season. The Seattle Seahawks, who comfortably beat the New England Patriots 29-13 in the title game, will once again face them in Week 1; a matchup that had been floated in multiple directions but ultimately landed as the season opener, even if it hasn’t generated unanimous excitement.

“Has a Super Bowl rematch ever meant less?” asked Jim Rome on his show, questioning both the timing and intent behind the fixture. While some fans had hoped for different blockbuster pairings, others still saw the appeal of a familiar heavyweight clash to start the year.

The bigger talking point, however, has gone beyond the game itself, with attention drifting toward the Patriots’ offseason storyline involving Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini. Rome suggested the league may have leaned into narrative over nostalgia, saying, “That’s why they gave us that game. That’s why they knew they could upstage the entire schedule release [Thursday] with one simple post, with one simple graphic…” He added, “That’s what that’s about,” pointing to the broader fascination around the Patriots’ head coach and the noise surrounding him heading into the season.

Rome even concluded, “That’s why they knew they could upstage the entire thing… The Shield just owned all your (expletive) yesterday,” framing the schedule release as less about football tradition and more about controlling the spotlight.
