Millwall vs Newcastle United LIVE: The EFL Cup third-round fixture will see Championship side Millwall take on Premier League outfit Newcastle United in a potentially intriguing cup contest. Millwall will be hoping to use home advantage and their physical style to cause an upset, while Newcastle United will be determined to maintain their unbeaten start under newly appointed head coach Matthias Jaissle and continue their pursuit of domestic silverware.
Millwall head into the fixture after an impressive 4-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers, with Lyndon Dykes scoring twice. Alex Neil’s side had earlier secured a 1-0 away win over Cambridge United in the second round. However, an extensive injury crisis has left the Lions with limited options ahead of the visit of Newcastle.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United have made an unbeaten start to the campaign across all competitions, recording two wins and two draws. The Magpies showed their resilience in their most recent match by coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 against Bournemouth. Newcastle defeated West Bromwich Albion 3-2 in the previous round and will see the Carabao Cup as an important opportunity to challenge for silverware.
