A legal controversy has emerged around Mohammed Kaif, a Bengal cricketer and younger brother of India fast bowler Mohammed Shami, after a Lucknow woman accused him of rape on the promise of marriage. The allegation has led to a police case, with reports saying the complainant approached authorities after earlier complaints. The case is under investigation, and the allegations remain unproven. Kaif, who plays domestic cricket for Bengal, has been named in the FIR.
Mohammed Kaif Rape Case: What The Woman Alleged
According to reports, the woman said she first connected with Mohammed Kaif through Instagram in 2020. She alleged that their relationship developed after he assured her that her previous marriage and her son would not be an issue.
The complainant claimed Kaif repeatedly promised to marry her and that they subsequently had sexual relations in different cities, including Lucknow, Delhi and Kolkata.
The woman further alleged that she left her cabin-crew job in Delhi after relying on his assurances. The woman said Kaif later told her that marriage would take place after the IPL auction, but the promised wedding did not happen.
Reports also say she approached police authorities in Lucknow seeking legal action.
FIR Filed Against Mohammed Shami’s Brother
An FIR has been registered in Lucknow following the woman’s complaint, with reports stating that Kaif has been booked over the allegations.
His brother Haseeb has been named in connection with an alleged threat, according to a report. The complainant has approached the Ashiyana and Vibhuti Khand police stations and later contacted senior police officials.
The Mohammed Kaif Rape Case relates to allegations against Kaif and does not name Mohammed Shami as an accused. Police are expected to examine the complaint, statements and other evidence as part of the investigation. At this stage, the allegations are claims made by the complainant and have not been established in court.
Kaif is a Bengal domestic cricketer and has remained outside the spotlight compared with his brother. The development has placed his name at the centre of a legal controversy, with the investigation now determining the facts and circumstances surrounding the complaint.
