Chelsea fans are anxiously awaiting fresh word on Moises Caicedo’s fitness ahead of Sunday’s high-stakes Premier League showdown with Arsenal. The Ecuadorian midfielder, one of Xabi Alonso’s key players, limped off during last weekend’s clash with Brighton, sparking immediate concern within the Chelsea camp. With such a pivotal fixture looming, all eyes remain on Caicedo injury update ahead of the Arsenal showdown.

Moises Caicedo Injury Update: What Xabi Alonso Said

Speaking to reporters ahead of the Arsenal fixture, Alonso was deliberately guarded when quizzed on Caicedo’s condition. “We’ll check tomorrow,” the Chelsea FC boss said, offering little insight into whether the 24-year-old had even trained this week.

The Spaniard later insisted he wasn’t concerned, reiterating that a definitive call would only be made following Chelsea’s final training session. Such caution comes as no surprise, given Caicedo only came on as a substitute against Brighton before being forced off just 11 minutes later.

Caicedo’s Fitness Struggles This Season

This isn’t the first time Caicedo’s fitness has dominated headlines at Stamford Bridge. The Ecuador international has battled a string of knocks since his British-record move from Brighton, including a troublesome ankle injury sustained during last summer’s Club World Cup semi-final against Fluminense.

Caicedo has also previously been sidelined by knee complaints and general fatigue, with former boss Enzo Maresca once suggesting his heavy workload was catching up with him.

Given Chelsea’s history of rushing the midfielder back prematurely, only for setbacks to follow, Alonso’s coaching staff appear determined not to repeat past mistakes. Caicedo remains one of the most trusted players in Chelsea’s engine room, making his frequent injury concerns a huge talking point among the Blues fans.

With Arsenal emerging as a genuine Premier League title rival, the timing of this latest scare could not be worse. Chelsea’s medical team will scrutinise every training session before Alonso commits to his final matchday squad vs the Gunners.
