The battle for the top spot during Q2 was a dramatic affair that saw the lap record shattered multiple times. Marc Marquez, who had to fight his way through Q1 earlier in the afternoon, looked set to take pole after a brilliant initial run. However, Bagnaia responded in the final minute with a 1m29.634s. Behind the factory duo, Marco Bezzecchi secured the third spot on the front row, completing an all-Ducati top three.Â

Jorge Martin produced a sensational comeback drive to win the 2026 MotoGP French Grand Prix Tissot Sprint at Le Mans after starting from eighth on the grid.
The Aprilia Racing rider made a stunning launch at lights out and held off Francesco Bagnaia to secure his second sprint victory of the season, while championship leader Marco Bezzecchi finished third.

The race, however, ended on a worrying note for Marc Marquez, who suffered a heavy highside crash on the penultimate lap. The reigning world champion fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot and is now set to miss both the French Grand Prix and next week’s Catalan Grand Prix following surgery.
Heading into Le Mans, the MotoGP 2026 World Championship standings remains a story of uncertainties. Marco Bezzecchi currently leads the title race with 108 points, thanks to his three wins in the opening four rounds. He is closely shadowed by Jorge Martin, who sits on 102 points and has been the model of consistency despite not yet visiting the top step of the podium this year.
Trailing them are the young sensation Pedro Acosta (72 points) and Fabio Di Giannantonio (71 points). Bagnaia, currently ninth with 43 points, desperately needs a win today to bridge the gap and stay in the hunt for a third title as the European leg of the season arrives.
