With Chennai Super Kings heading to their last home match of IPL 2026 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, speculations have intensified about MS Dhoni’s much-awaited return. The legendary wicketkeeper-batter has played no matches this season due to a calf injury sustained during pre-season training. While fans await his return, CSK only has two matches left in the league stage. They remain in the playoff race, but qualification isn’t certain yet.

CSK had a lifeline after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru crushed the Punjab Kings in a high-scoring clash in Dharamshala on Sunday. As the last season’s runners-up dropped points, CSK benefitted. The five-time IPL champions must win their remaining league games to stay in the hunt.

Fans remain curious to learn when MS Dhoni will return, as his absence from the roster so far is a mystery. He has been sidelined due to a calf issue, with the CSK management sharing timely updates on his recovery. However, nothing is clear regarding Dhoni’s return date.

Will MS Dhoni Play in CSK vs SRH IPL Match at Chepauk?

As per reports, MS Dhoni trained with the team at Chepauk ahead of their last home game of IPL 2026. The World Cup-winning skipper batted in the nets and also performed some warm-up drills. Ex-CSK star Ravichandran Ashwin also hinted at Thala’s return in a recent discussion on his YouTube channel.

“Let’s see. I have a feeling that against SunRisers Hyderabad, there is a good chance of him playing. Let’s wait and see how it goes. As far as I have heard, he has been ready to take the field for the last two to three games,” the former India spinner said.

If Dhoni doesn’t continue in the next season, there is a huge possibility that the CSK management may organise a farewell event for the legendary captain ahead of the match against SRH on Monday.
