Defending champions India, widely regarded as one of the favourites, will begin their campaign later the same day against the USA at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The much-anticipated fixture will be preceded by a grand opening ceremony, officially marking the start of the tournament.
The opening ceremony will feature the tournament trophy being welcomed by ICC Chairman Jay Shah alongside former India captain Rohit Sharma, who led India to their title triumph in 2024. They will be joined by 20 children, each representing one of the participating nations, as the T20 World Cup 2026 is formally declared open.
Fans can look forward to a high-energy entertainment lineup. Popular singer and rapper Badshah will headline the ceremony with a live performance, followed by world-renowned dancer and actress Nora Fatehi, who will deliver a dynamic routine accompanied by a large ensemble of dancers. The ceremony will conclude with a spectacular joint finale by both artists.
