Max Verstappen will start Saturday’s Nurburgring 24 Hour race from fourth on the grid, making his debut in the iconic endurance event under Verstappen Racing. He’ll be sharing a Mercedes-AMG GT3 with Dani Juncadella, Jules Gounon, and Lucas Auer, as they get themselves ready to tackle one of the most demanding circuits out there in motorsport.
In qualifying, Juncadella set an 8:12.005 in Top Qualifying 3, narrowly missing out on pole, while Verstappen posted an 8:11.614 in Top Qualifying 2 to help put the team in a strong starting position overall. As the race now approaches, all eyes turn to the conditions on track, but will rain have an impact on Verstappen’s debut endurance challenge?
Nurburgring Weather Today During Max Verstappen’s Debut Race
The 24 Hours of Nurburgring is already famous for its brutal Nordschleife layout, but the weather often makes it even stranger, and somehow more unpredictable across the German Eifel. This weekend hasn’t been different, rain came in on Thursday night and then light showers messed with Top Qualifying on Friday, which means drivers had a bit more hassle than usual on that long, hard circuit.

After the warm-up session featuring Jules Gounon for Verstappen Racing, attention now shifts to the race start at 15:00 local time. The forecasts point to mostly cloudy skies, temperatures hovering near 9°C, and an early rain moment chance of about 14% . Still, later conditions are expected to change, because the chance of rain is tipped to climb to around 24% in the first hours. Then there might be showers arriving around 19:00, before things ease again in the evening, as sunset gets closer to the Nordschleife.
Is The 24 Hours of Nurburgring Heading For a Rain-Heavy Challenge?
Up through the early evening, things are expected to stay pretty calm, with just a small chance of rain, while temperatures slip to about 4°C under mostly cloudy skies. Overnight, the weather should stay steady, so visibility remains pretty constant even as the cold settles in all across the circuit.
Between 02:00 and 07:00 on Sunday, the rain likelihood lingers near 20% then it ticks up again during the morning. From 08:00 to 11:00, a few scattered showers may pop up, and the chance of rain could climb to roughly 33% before it eases later. The race is still looking like it will end under cloudy conditions at the Nordschleife, but there’s still a lingering 20–25% chance of rain. By the end, temperatures should have warmed a bit, back up near 10°C.
