PEOPLE POSING FOR PHOTOGRAPHS STORY: Spectators arrived at the Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre in Cortina d'Ampezzo on Sunday (February 8) excited to watch the Winter Olympics women's alpine downhill race featuring Lindsey Vonn. The 41-year-old U.S. great was tryng to beat the odds of age and injury on her favourite Olimpia della Tofane piste on Sunday, hoping to become the oldest Alpine skiing medallist in Games history after winning two World Cup races this year. Unfortunately, for both Vonn and the fans this didn't turn out as planned as the American crashed out of the race. She lost control, lurched to the right and landed awkwardly on her side before being pitched backwards down the slope. Vonn was then airlifted to hospital with her Olympics and career left in the balance. (Production: Cristiano Corvino, Christine Uyanik, Ilze Filks, Tim Hart)
