Some massive alleged claims against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have emerged amid the 2026 edition of the Major League Cricket (MLC). According to a report by Pakpassion.net, the PCB is charging hefty fees as much as $25000 to issue the No Objection Certificate (NOC) to their players to play in the six-team tournament. The reports have also claimed that the matter has been brought to the attention of chairman Mohsin Naqvi, given asking for money to issue NOC doesn’t sound natural.
Have The PCB Demanded $25000 from the MLC franchises to sign Pakistan players?
As per the report, the demand for the money came, days before the start of the tournament; hence, it put the board on the back foot. With such unusual and unreasonable demands, the future of the Pakistani players in the tournament could be massively doubtful. An MLC source told a media house the below, as quoted by The Cricket Addictor:
“It’s more the extortion the PCB does. Basically, through the year, they won’t say anything. And then right towards the start of the tournament, when they have to give their NOCs, they send an email saying that for the NOC, it will be $25,000 for each player. Around a week before the tournament starts, when they know we can’t find other players, we’ve announced the players and cannot replace them, that’s when they’ll come back and say you have to pay $25,000 per player for an NOC. We’ll ask them why they did not tell us this before, and they won’t respond.”
Additionally, an event occurred in the second season when the PCB demanded money, hours before the match.
“There were four Pakistani players for one of the teams, but the PCB forgot about the fourth player and asked for three payments of $25,000. They then extorted another $25,000 for the fourth player for an NOC just a few hours before a match was to be played.”
What did Mohsin Naqvi say after the matter was addressed?
With the matter reaches Mohsin Naqvi, the board reportedly stated that the money from MLC remains a source of their income as the statement read:
“It would be a different issue if it’s a standard policy and they publish that ahead of time for everyone. But when they do this just for MLC, in a way to extort money, that’s not the right thing to do.”
