There are, of course, specific times for the three main meals, which are very long, especially in the Milan village. This is actually an effort to keep the players happy, for example the hockey players, who are probably the ones who eat the most food and eat the most frequently, so we commend ourselves for this very reason." This is clearly something we value greatly and are extremely proud of, so we have sought to highlight this diversity in our proposal, also promoting some local products." While in Paris, as you know, there was the muffin here at Milano Cortina 2026, in reality we have more than one equivalent of muffins. In Milan, the lava cake, which has a kind of molten chocolate filling, has proved very popular and lends itself very well to social media. While in Livigno, tiramisu is the drawing a lot of attention. In Predazzo, pizza reigns supreme. It’s the talk of social media with pizzas being made in many different ways and different colours." 25. PRESS CONFERENCE IN PROGRESS  26. VARIOUS OF U.S. FREESTYLE SKIERS POSING AT OLYMPIC RINGS STORY: Pizza and pasta top the podium for Olympians' favourite foods, according to the head of food and beverage at Milano Cortina Winter Games, Elisabetta Salvadori.  "Italian style has obviously characterised the carbohydrate offering," Salvadori told a press conference on Tuesday (February 10) while describing the menus on offer at the six athletes' villages in Milan, Predazzo, Bormio, Livigno, Anterselva, and Cortina d'Ampezzo. "As you know carbohydrates are a fundamental component in athletes' nutrition and pasta and pizza obviously reign supreme, much to the satisfaction of the athletes," said Salvadori who went on to reveal that the demand for the Italian staples has even caused long queues in the canteens. With some 2,900 athletes from 92 countries officially competing in the global showpiece event, up to 4,500 breakfasts, lunches and dinners are being prepared each day at the Milan Village, nearly 4,000 in Cortina d'Ampezzo and 2,300 in Predazzo.  "If every meal served at the Olympics were placed on a tray, we would have a tower about 60km high, which is about 18 times the height of the Tofana di Rozes," Salvadori quipped, in reference to the highest peak in Cortina - the mountain venue hosting alpine skiing, bobsleigh, luge, skeleton, and curling events.  As for which athletes are consuming the most calories, Salvadori said there's a clear winner. "Food is available 24 hours a day," she explained. "This is actually an effort to keep the players happy. For example the hockey players, who are probably the ones who eat the most and eat most frequently." (Production: Irene Wang, Conal Quinn) (The article has been published through a syndicated feed.
