PSL 2026: Two Karachi Kings players, Khuzaima Bin Tanveer and Muhammad Waseem, have temporarily stepped away from the squad during the ongoing 11th season of the Pakistan Super League. The move comes after they were called back by the Emirates Cricket Board.
According to Geo News, both players have been asked to return to the United Arab Emirates to take part in the country’s domestic 50-over tournament. The report mentioned that the ECB instructed them to leave immediately and join their respective domestic teams.
Expected Return After Domestic Matches
There is some relief for Karachi Kings fans, though. The report added that both players are likely to return to the PSL after playing two matches in the D50 competition. They have reportedly received clearance to rejoin the franchise once those games are done.
However, their availability for the upcoming clash against Peshawar Zalmi on April 9 is still unclear. The match will be played in Karachi, and it remains to be seen whether they can finish their domestic commitments in time to be considered for selection.
PSL 2026: Mixed Performances and Missed Opportunities
Muhammad Waseem has had a bit of an up-and-down start to the season. He scored 0 in the opening match against Quetta Gladiators, then bounced back with 38 runs against Lahore Qalandars, followed by 23 runs in another game.
Khuzaima Bin Tanveer, on the other hand, is yet to feature in this year’s tournament.
Karachi Kings Off to a Strong Start
Despite these changes, Karachi Kings have looked solid so far. Under the leadership of David Warner, the team has won all three of its matches and currently sits at the top of the points table.
Why This Situation Matters
This situation also highlights how much influence national cricket boards have over players, even during major T20 leagues. A similar trend has been seen in the IPL, where Cricket Australia has carefully managed its players. For example, decisions around when Cameron Green and Cooper Connolly can bowl have been controlled by the board rather than left entirely to their franchise teams.
