Australia and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Tim David went hammer and tongs against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 5, Sunday at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. In a carnage unleashed on Jamie Overton, David unleashed a host of sixes, one of which was leathered well outside of the stadium, making the fans at the Chinnaswamy Stadium go berserk.
Tim David smashes Jamie Overton for 30 runs in an over
The right-handed batter walked out in the 15th over of the innings after Overton flattened Devdutt Padikkal’s leg-stump and the Super Kings eyed a much-needed comeback. David was notably also dismissed by Anshul Kamboj but his heel was agonizingly above the crease, making the Singapore-born cricketer even more energised to unleash a carnage. The six that sent the ball seemingly out of the Cubbon Park as Overton sent down a short-pitched delivery and David latched onto it to send it way over the boundary line.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ayush Mhatre perish cheaply after Royal Challengers Bengaluru amass 250 in their 20 overs
Meanwhile, the Super Kings have had a horrid start to their run-chase of 251 as captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has perished for 7, followed by losing Ayush Mhatre for a single figure score as well. The wicket of Mhatre is also Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 200th victim in IPL history. After Virat Kohli perished for 28, Devdutt Padikkal and Phil Salt stitched a brisk 56-run stand off only 37 deliveries before the latter departed for 46. Padikkal struggled to find his range but became unstoppable when the left-hander did, notching up a half-century off 28 deliveries. Along with Rajat Patidar, he smashed Shivam Dube for 23 runs in an over to put the Super Kings firmly on the back foot.
The pair’s partnership of 58 off 21 balls was broken by Jamie Overton as Padikkal tried to go for the reverse sweep but lost his leg-stump. David was the top-scorer for 70* off 25 deliveries and shared an unbroken stand of 99 with Rajat Patidar, who was not out at 48.
