Will Prime Minister Narendra Modi attend the T20 World Cup 2026 final?

Several VIPs are expected to grace their presence in Ahmedabad, from celebrities to former cricketers as Team India are on the verge of clinching their third T20 World Cup title. The Men in Blue will start as overwhelming favourites to clinch the crown against New Zealand, who are playing only second T20 World Cup final. Should Suryakumar Yadav’s men get the job done, they will become the first side to win the T20 World Cup trophy thrice but also become the only team till date to defend their title successfully. Additionally, India will also become the first side to win the T20 World Cup on home soil if they beat the Kiwis.

According to Zee News, there hasn’t been any official confirmation of his attendance for the tournament-decider and his chances of coming is quite low. The report also claimed that Modi has a busy schedule, headlined by the need to inaugurate and lay the foundation for numerous developmental projects, including the Delhi Metro expansion. The Indian government is also largely focused on the uncertain geopolitical situation affecting West Asia.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had presented Pat Cummins with the 2023 World Cup trophy

Modi had notably presented Australian captain Pat Cummins with the World Cup trophy after the final in 2023 at the same venue. With the same stadium hosting the final against the Black Caps, Team India and their fans will have flashbacks of the night from November 19, 2023.

Nevertheless, the Men in Blue will take confidence from their three consecutive wins leading up to the final.
