Indian cricket player Rinku Singh is deeply saddened by the death of his father, Khanchandra Singh, who died at Yatharth Hospital, Greater Noida, on Friday, 27 February 2026. Khanchandra Singh was suffering from liver cancer at an advanced stage and had been receiving intensive treatment at the hospital for quite some time. However, his condition worsened, and he passed away.
This is a great loss for the Singh family, especially since Khanchandra was the family's main source of strength. The story goes that Khanchandra was so determined to give his son a good cricketing life that he did not change his job of delivering LPG gas cylinders, even after Rinku became an international cricket star. The cricket fraternity is now starting to salute the man who embodied the hard work and sacrifice behind Rinku Singh's extraordinary rise to fame.
Khanchandra Singh's health deteriorated to the point where the whole Singh family was deeply worried about it. In fact, it was due to liver cancer in the advanced stage that he was admitted to Yatharth Hospital, Greater Noida, for treatment. The treatment package was so intense that it decompensated renal replacement therapy as well.
Incidentally, in the middle of the T20 World Cup 2026, Rinku Singh had to leave the team in Chennai after he got to know that his father was put on mechanical ventilator support. He made the trip to Greater Noida to provide care and support to his father during this critical moment.
Demonstrating immense professional commitment, Rinku briefly rejoined the Indian team on Wednesday evening after being assured the situation had stabilised. However, the sudden demise on Friday morning has seen the cricketer return home once more to perform the final rites in Aligarh.
As the news broke, several former teammates offered their condolences. Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh was among the first to pay tribute on social media, acknowledging the immense pressure Rinku has been under during the T20 World Cup.
Pained to learn about the demise of Shri Khanchand Singh Ji, father of Rinku Singh. This must be an especially difficult time for Rinku and his family, even as he remains committed to his responsibilities during the T20 World Cup.
