In a viral post via her official account on X, Ameesha blasted the ‘cruel cricketing era’, claiming that the likes of Rohit and Virat Kohli deserve better treatment for their contributions to not only Indian but world cricket.

During the second innings of the second ODI between India and England at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, a report of The Indian Express claimed that the Lord’s game could well be the veteran’s final international appearance as he is no longer in the selectors’ plans for the 2027 World Cup. The right-hander’s returns of 11 and 26 in the two ODIs against England has put his ability to perform in the biggest stage in sharp focus, with the selectors reportedly wanting to give younger players an opportunity. Nevertheless, the Men in Blue’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak remained coy at the press conference following the second ODI about whether or not Rohit will retire. While Kohli’s spot remains secure for now, Ameesha also mentioned the 37-year-old in her tweet, writing:
