Ajinkya Rahane Wants India To Back Rohit Sharma
Former India batter Ajinkya Rahane has strongly backed Rohit’s chances of playing in the 2027 World Cup. He believes the senior top-order batter should be given clarity instead of being judged after every single series.
“I think it is important to tell Rohit Sharma he is going to play the 2027 ODI World Cup,” Rahane said.
He also highlighted Rohit’s experience and contribution to Indian cricket. “Just look at his contribution over several years. It has been amazing. You need the experience of such a player at a World Cup,” Rahane added.
He argued that senior players should be allowed to play without constant uncertainty over their places.
Rohit remains part of India’s plans for the three-match ODI series against Australia beginning October 19. However, with the 2027 World Cup still ahead, selectors will eventually have to weigh his fitness, consistency and the required set-up involving talented youngsters.
