Zimbabwe and South Africa will sign off from the Super 8 stage of T20 World Cup 2026 by taking on one another at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on March 1, Sunday. While Zimbabwe are out of the tournament and will play for pride, South Africa will look to maintain their unbeaten run in the tournament and look to further solidify their status as top contenders for the title.
Zimbabwe, who hadn't even qualified for T20 World Cup 2024, delivered some remarkable performances in this edition, headlined by their undefeated run in the group stage, notably beating Australia and Sri Lanka. However, their bowling unit was taken to the cleaners in the Super 8 stage of the 20-team tournament as West Indies and Team India battered 250+ totals. Despite looking nowhere near chasing down the totals, the African nation still delivered spirited batting performances twice. Brian Bennett, who is currently the second-highest run-getter of this edition, will be looking to finish the tournament for a high and earn a win for Zimbabwe against a strong Proteas side.
Meanwhile, South Africa have undeniably made themselves the team to beat and are well on track to flex their muscles on what is likely to be a batting beauty in Delhi. The Proteas' bowling also has the much-needed variety to take down Zimbabwe even if the pitch is highly batting-friendly. But South Africa will also avoid taking Zimbabwe lightly, given the latter now have nothing to lose.
